nondisabled

The term preferred by the Disability community for people who do not have or do not experience disability. The phrases does not experience disability or does not have a disability are also acceptable. Do not hyphenate between non- and disabled.

This term centers disability as a lived experience and not as a condition on the body. Do not use the term able-bodied because that places emphasis on the physical condition of a person’s body and casts disability in a stigmatized or negative light.
