This Spring Fund Drive, we won’t ask donors for more funds

Dear friends and supporters,
It’s April! And you know what that means: Spring Fund Drive time!
We’re tired of asking you for funding. It gets old. It gets tiresome. It gets annoying. You already support us. So we’ve decided not to do it during the 2026 Spring Fund Drive.
You’re probably asking yourself how we plan to do a Spring Fund Drive without asking you for more funding. Well, we’re taking a cue from Kermit the Frog in his famous role as Kermit the Frog in the 1984 classic movie, “The Muppets Take Manhattan.”
If you haven’t seen it, Kermit and the Muppets head to The Big Apple in an attempt to get their senior thesis, a play called “Manhattan Melodies,” on Broadway. After several failed attempts, Kermit enlists Rizzo the Rat and friends in his version of a “whisper campaign.” Kermit, Rizzo, and crew head to the famous see-and-be-seen restaurant Sardini’s for lunch. Kermit replaces actress Lizza Minelli’s autographed picture on the wall with his own, while Rizzo and friends spread out across the restaurant. They hide under the tables and talk about “the famous director Kermit” and his new musical, Manhattan Melodies. Of course, it’s the Muppets, so things go awry.
We think Kermit was on to something. This month, instead of asking you to donate your money — again — we’d like to ask you to donate this time by spreading the word about Equal Access Public Media.
Need some talking points to help you out?
Here’s some ideas:
- Post on social media five times this month about why you support Equal Access Public Media. Tag us on Bluesky and LinkedIn using #EAPM and #NewsForAll.
- Tell five friends about Equal Access Public Media.
- Encourage your colleagues to choose Equal Access Public Media for their employee donation.
- Include the link to donate to EAPM at the bottom of your emails (and let people know it’s tax deductible): www.equalaccesspublicmedia.org/support-us/.
- Encourage your friends to sign up for this newsletter and to read The Word!
- Email us about why you became a supporter! We’d be happy to do the work and turn your story into something for social media.
Oh, and tell us about what you did! We’re not saying it’s a competition about who gets the most new people to visit our site or donate or sign up for the newsletter, but we’re also not saying it isn’t…
As always, thank you so much for your continued support.
But wait, what if I’m not a donor or supporter yet?
You can still help us out by spreading the word. And of course, we’d love if you’d become a first-time donor today. Then, you can brag to your friends about how you just supported us and they should too. And you can recite those talking points like a pro.
In fact, you can make your first donation right here!
Thanks for joining our donor family! Now go brag about it.
See you next month
And we’ll be sure to update you on how this reverse fund drive went.
As always,
