You got questions, and we got answers
Can kids be on a team?
Yes! As long as you feel they can be involved and engaged through the event. All ages are welcome. And we know your kids are smart newshounds.
Can my teammates be remote?
Your team should be gathered together in one place for the trivia challenge. It’s more fun for you and your team. It makes it easier to discuss your answers. Plus, you can’t really share snacks with your teammates over the internet.
Where should my team be set up?
We suggest you gather your team together in one spot wherever you have a strong internet signal, can share snacks, and are comfy. Maybe that’s your living room. Maybe that’s your backyard. Maybe that’s invading your local coffee shop. If that’s invading your local coffee shop, please make sure to buy plenty of food and drinks and tip generously.
How many questions are there?
Overall, there are 53 questions across 6 rounds. The focus will be on what’s been in the news, but don’t just think about all the serious stuff. We’ll be asking about the weird and wacky, too.
Do we have to answer questions in the form of a question?
I’ll take This isn’t Jeopardy,
for $1,000, Alex.
Does my team have to donate or raise funds to participate?
Technically no, you do not need to donate. By law, we’re required to say something like, “No purchase necessary.” But this is a fundraiser, and it’s for a good cause. That’s why we suggest in our most motherly tone that you donate a minimum of $10 per person on your team.
Oh, and you are absolutely welcome to donate more. And you are encouraged to get others to donate on your behalf.
In fact, you are also welcome to ask your know-it-all uncle to wager how many questions he thinks you’ll get right. Then, tell him to put his money where his mouth is in the form of a donation to Equal Access Public Media.
How will the money raised be used?
The proceeds from News Flash! support Equal Access Public Media’s projects to make news more accessible to everyone, including the Style and Accessibility Guide, as well as building and launching the National Tab.
If I wanted to hire Trivia Goodness for my own event, how do I do that?
