EAPM makes big moves

Style and Accessibility Guide moves to new site
It’s time for the EAPM Style and Accessibility Guide to move out on its own.
This is Equal Access Public Media’s first flourishing project, and with its growth, its time it leave the nest. The new website will be www.eapmstyleguide.org.
The new site will include:
- The style and accessibility guide;
- Improved search;
- And Improved navigation.
New EAPM Style Guide magazine seeks freelancers
The launch of the of the new EAPM Style and Accessibility Guide site will include a magazine called The Word on Style and Accessibility — or The Word, for short.
The Word will include articles, commentary, and analysis about style and accessibility in journalism, with a nod to the EAPM Style and Accessibility Guide. At this time EAPM is accepting pitches from freelancers.
EAPM will accept pitches for the following formats:
- text, about 800 words;
- audio with transcript, about 6 minutes;
- video with transcript, about 6 minutes;
- or a combination of any of the three formats.
Pitches should include your name, a description of your pitch, and a way to contact you.
Please remember that The Word is a publication of the EAPM Style and Accessibility Guide so you will be using the guide in your work. If you are pitching an analysis or commentary, consider how the EAPM Style and Accessibility Guide fits into that commentary or analysis.
Don’t forget to send a resume or where you’ve previously worked, and samples of your previous work. Some examples of this might include:
- clips of your articles, new segments, or podcasts;
- pieces you’ve edited or produced;
- accessibility work you’ve done, such as websites you’ve audited or built;
- speeches you’ve given on accessibility or journalism;
- or courses you’ve taught on accessibility.
Send your pitches to style@equalaccesspublicmedia.org with “Pitch” in the subject line.
EAPM quietly relaunched website
In late August, after nearly a month of work, EAPM relaunched our website.
The design barely changed and the site remained extremely accessible, but the code behind the site received a major overhaul. It went from a slow, heavy site to a lite, nimble site with faster response times.
There may not be much of a difference to some users — and we like it that way — but editor Stacy Kess spent a month combing through the site going through the code to make the site better behind the scenes. We extend a huge thank you to developer Oliver Juhás and Webman Design who provided support, design to keep the site looking essentially the same, and a few laughs along the way.
